Looking for ways to get more involved at Grandview Hills Elementary? You’ve come to the right place! There are so many ways to get involved and it’s easy to scale your commitment based on the time you have available. Below is a set of current needs - please check back periodically as this list evolves!

Science Lab Reorganization Project

  • What: The science lab is in need of organization. There is no clear system as to where items belong.  Many of the items in the lab do not belong in the lab at all or should simply be recycled. We are looking for someone to Lead this project as well as a committee of 5-8 volunteers to assist.

  • When: To be determined. This project will need to be scheduled over a 2-3 day time period once a committee is formed. Time commitment could vary from 2 hours to 3 days.

  • Why: To help our teachers make more productive use of the Science Lab!

  • How: Contact Nicole Tomaszewski at GVHEPresident@gmail.com if you are interested in being involved

Reflections Committee

  • What: Reflections is an Art Program sponsored by the National PTA. Students may submit art pieces through November 7 to participate in the contest. Volunteers are needed to help promote the program to students and to act as judges once art pieces are submitted.

  • When: Now through end of November. Time commitment will vary.

  • How: Contact Julia Watkins-Davis at juliawatkinsdavis@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in participating

Bulletin Board Updates

  • What: A number of bulletin boards around the school could use a Facelift. We are looking for creative people that can take high level guidance / vision from club leaders or teachers and execute the necessary updates to the boards.

  • When: Ongoing throughout the year. Approximately 2-4 hours of effort required per bulletin board.

  • Why: Ensure bulletin boards provide relevant and helpful information to students.

  • How: Contact GVHEPresident@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out with one of these projects.

Library Volunteers

  • What: You can volunteer during your child’s library time or anytime during the school day. Day to day tasks include helping to re-shelve books, helping with check-in / check-out of books, reading to students, assisting students with technology, helping students select a book. Ms. Porter may also have special projects she needs help with from time to time.

  • How: Please find the online sign-up on the Volunteer and register for a time that works best for your schedule. You may also reach out to Ms. Porter directly to inquire about Special Projects at dee.porter@leanderisd.org.

Yearbook Committee

  • What: Volunteers are needed to assist with the production of the Yearbook. Our yearbook vendor, Jostens, has provided an easy-to-use software and template which can be accessed from anywhere. Assistance is needed to arrange pictures and captions into pages.

  • When: October through March; weekends, evenings or during school day, your choice!

  • How: Please reach out to our Historian, Susan Rebtoy if you are interested in assisting!
